A modern application of the old saw, “ Be sure your sins will find you out,” was provided at the Edendale railway station on Saturday afternoon after the arrival of the mid-day express from Invercargill. The heat was excessive and the station bathed in sunlight. The stillness of the scene was suddenly shattered by a sharp report which aroused the curiosity of the passengers in the train. They had no difficulty in tracing the origin of the explosion as the expression on the face of a man, clad in an overcoat, was a study, combining as it did, surprise, alarm and mortification. On behalding the cause of his distress the passengers groaned in unison as from liis pocket flowed a foaming fountain—the contents of a bottle of beer which had been affected by the sun.
