COOKIES. Date Dreams.—Threequarter cup dates cut fine, one-third cup milk, half cup dripping, one and threequarter cups flour, one cup brown sugar, two teaspoons baking powder, one egg (beaten), one teaspoon cinnamon, quarter cup rolled oats, halfteaspoon nutmeg, one teaspoon salt. Cream dripping, sugar and salt. Add egg, rolled oats and dates. Sift other dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk. Drop on tray and bake 15 minutes. Cocoanut Cookies.—Quarter cup dripping, half teaspoon lemon extract of juice, half cup sugar, one and ahalf cups flour, one egg (beaten), two teaspoons baking powder, halfcup milk, quarter teaspoon salt, two cups cocoanut. Cream dripping and sugar. Add egg, then lemon juice. Stir in cocoanut, then milk. Last add flour, salt and baking powder sifted together. Drop on tray and bake 15 to 20 minutes.
