DAIRY FACTORY RETURNS.

FIGURES FOR DECEMBER. General Decrease in Supply. The extent to w r hich the dry spell has affected dairying in the Morrinsville district is partially revealed by the returns for December of the dairy companies operating in the district. In all cases a drop on November figures is recorded, as the following will illustrate : Morrinsville Dairy Company, pounds butterfat, December 236,876, November 240,869 ; Tatuanui, pounds milk, December 2,607,026, November 2,693,380 ; Norfolk/ pounds milk, December 1,382,316, November 1,407, It might be mentioned that the Morrinsville Company still shows a substantial increase, in supply over December, 1926, while an increase is also revealed in the case of Norfolk. The supply at Tatua is lower thin for December of last season, but at a higher rate of payout the distribution is slightly higher. The rates of payout for butter are, in common with other parts of the province, low, in consequence of depression on the Home market, but cheese seems to be firm, and a steady rate of payout has been maintained by the two cheese companies in the district. Tatua is paying out at the rate of Is 5d per pound butterfat, and Norfolk at Is 6d, which exceeds last year’s rate in the first case by 2d and in the second by 4d.
