THE CHRISTMAS CHEQUES. The New Zealand Meat Producers Board has received a cable from its representative at Buenos Aires, South America, advising the following shipments to the United Kingdom for the fortnight ended 9th December, 1926, from Argentine and Uruguay : 218,695 quarters chilled beef, 21,299 quarters frozen beef, 71,791 carcases frozen mutton, 138,400 carcases frozen lamb. , The quantity shipped to other countries during the same period was as follows:—To the Continent 'of Europe : 104,100 quarters frozen beef, 17,326 carcases frozen mutton, 550 carcases frozen lamb. To North American ports : 2500 carcases frozen lamb. EFFECT OF LOW PRICES. Discussing the effect of the low advances made last month, a Morrinsville farmer stated that even with considerably more production the lower payments meant that he was receiving £5 a week less than he did for a corresponding period last year. Butterfat payments to be made in the Morrinsville and Matamata districts to-day are as follows, comparisons being made with payments for a similar period last year, and also with payments that were made last month:— Dec.
