MOTOR CAR SALES.

A BRISKER DEMAND. After three dull months the motor trade is approaching the brisk sales season and during the last few weeks there has been an improvement in business throughout the Dominion. Since the increased motor duties have frustrated any possibility of lower prices, there is no doubt that many people will buy early this year. There were 1177 ears sold in New Zealand in August, as compared with 1263 in August of last year. Of -the total of 1177, the North Island absorbed 729 and the South Island 448. There were 143 British cars, or 12.1 per cent. In August, 1925, British ears accounted for 11:6 per cent. Following the total monthly sales for 1926, together with the percentage of British cars included: — Total British Per cent.
