MATAMATA. A clearance sale on behalf of Mr. N. Blennerhassett was conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. at Peria (Matamata) last week. Best fat cow's broug'ht from £lO to £l2 15s; medium sorts, £8 to £10; others £6 to £S; yearling heifers up to £3. Bull, aged Jersey, £6 10s. Pigs: Boars, £3; sows, £3 10s; best w'eaners, 28s. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s weekly sale at Matamata heavy fat cows brought from £9 to £lO 14s; ( Holstein heifers, £3 15s to £4 10s; Mr | 'Mullholland’s heifers brought £5 7s, and Mr. Madill’s grade Jerseys £5 15s. Dalgety and Company Ltd. held their regular stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday. Beef Cattle.—Fat cows ££ to £9 11s, fat heifers £4 12s 6d to £6, forwardconditioned cows £3 5s to £4 9s, yearling Holstein heifers £2 to £3 10s, Jersey bulls £6 15s to £8 Bs, yearling pedigree Jersey bulls 71gns to 7Sgns, Shorthorn bulls £3 15s to £5, Holstein bulls £4 to £5. v Dairy Cattle.—Dairy cows £6 5s to £lO 10s, dry Jersey-cross heifers £8 15s to £ll, Shorthorn heifers £4 5s to £8 15s. Sheep.—Fat ewes 225, fat hoggets 295. Pigs.—Fat pigs £3 9s to £3 17s 6d, stores 32s to £2, weaners 15s to 265. MORRINSVILLE. There was another large yarding at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s stock sale at Morrinsville on Friday, when all pens were filled. Steer beef was again penned in large numbers, 100 fat steers being offered, and among these were a number of exceptionally good quality. Two extra prime lots sold on behalf of Messrs. Howie Bros. (Morrinsville) and K. Campbell (Okoroire) brought £ls 10s. Some extra prime heavy fat cows were also offered, two pens, one on behalf of Kereone Estate (Morrinsville), bringing £l2 11s, and another from Mr. K. Campbell (Okoroire), £l2 7s 6d. There was a drop of about 2s per 1001 bin the beef values. Prime ox sold at from 33s to 34s per 1001 b, and extra prime cow beef at 325, while other prime cow beef ranged from 28s to 30s per 1001 b. For young stock there was not the demand that existed a few weeks ago and the best price that could be gained for good quality 15-months, Jersey heifers was £4 17s 6d. Dairy cattle were also not so much sought after and the highest price in the dairy ring was £lO 15s. Bulls were penned in unusually large numbers but the demand was not great. A pedigree Jersey, Blos- . som’s Golden Lad, offered on account of Mr. J. A. Maxwell (Tauhei), was passed in at £l6 but was sold later for £lB. There was only a small yarding of sheep, with values at late rates. Fat pigs were dull of sale but towards the close prices began to harden. The values, however, showed a considerable drop over the previous rates. The re was just as keen a demand as usual for young pigs and the prices were well maintained. The prices are: — Beef.—Extra prime fat bullocks £ls 10s, prime fat bullocks £l3 17s to £l4 Bs, medium quality £l2 to £l3 3s, light but good quality £ll 3s to £ll 15s, unfinished £lO 2s ; extra heavy prime cows £l2 7s 6d to £l2 11s ; fat cows and heifers £8 Is to £lO 10s ; heavy cows £6 10s to £7 10s, light £5 15s to £6 ss, fresh conditioned £4 2s 6d to £4 15a, best stores £2 16s to £4 2s, other stores £1 2s 6d to £2 4s, rough sorts £1 to £1 10s ; two-year pedigree heifers £5 ss, . grades £3 7s 6d. Young Stock.—ls-months Jersey heifers £3 9s to £4 17s 6d, mixed £2 10s to £3 ; 15-months good quality Shorthorn heifers £3 9s. Dairy Cattle.—Springing heifers (Jersey and Jersey-cross) £8 to £lO 15s, others £6 5s to £7 10s ; cows (springing) £7 10s to £lO. Bulls.—Pedigree £lB ; other bulls for service £5 15s to £8 8s ; potters £3 10s to £5, others £1 10s to £1 15s. Sheep.—Fat woolly wethers 29s to : 33s 3d ; fat shorn ewes 22s to 23s ; 6d ; fat shorn hoggets 24s ; woolly hoggets 20s. ■ Pigs.—Heavy baconers £3 5s to £3 10s, medium £3 ; choppers £3 to £5 10s ; good stores 36s to £2 8s ; good slips 30s to 35s ; good weaners 23s , to 28s, others 18s to 225.

HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Frankton sale last week there was a good yarding of beef, fat sheep, fat and store pigs, and a fair entry of store cattle. Cow and heifer beef was easier, prices ranging from

20s to 30s per head lower than tlie" previous week. No fat bullocks were yarded. Sheep were firm at last week’s prices but fat and store pigs were a good deal easier. . The prices are:— Heavy fat cows £9 10s to £9 12s, prime fat heifers £9 10s, mediumquality cows £6 10s to £7 15s, plain and unfinished £5 10s to £6, good fresh empty cows £4 ss, store cows £3 to £3 10s, aged cows 35s to £2 10s, yearling Jersey-cross heifers £3 2s to £4 10s, small yearling steers £2 16s. Dairy cows £5 10s to £8 10s, springing heifers £8 10s to £9 15s. Prime woolly fat wethers 335, extra-prime shorn fat ewes 27s (id, fat shorn wethers 24s 3d to 255, ewes with good lambs at foot 365, prime fat woolly hoggets 27s 6d to 295. Prime heavy baconers £3 16s to £4 3s, heavy baconers £3 10s to £3 15s, heavy porkers £3 to £3 3s, light porkers £2 10s to £2 15s, slips 28s to 345, weaners 20s to 255, small weaners 15s to 17s. WAIKATO MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company reports under date November 1: Beef.—The market is firm, and although Southern buyers have been operating, sufficient is coming forward to meet the demand, and prices have not improved since our last report. It certainly looks as if we have seen the top price this spring. Fat Sheep.—Plenty of fat sheep are offering, with prices firm at late quotations, best prime store wethers making up to 29s and prime ewes 22s 6d. Store Sheep.—A good inquiry still exists for hoggets, ewes and lambs, and wethers out of the wool. Store Cattle. —With the abundance of feed about, the market for all classes of store cattle is firm ; grown bullocks, young steers and goodframed store cows are wanted, and there is a keen demand for good yearling Jersey heifers. Dairy Cattle. —Only small yardings are now coming forward, but good dairy cows and choice springing heifers are still meeting with good competition.

Pigs.—The market is somewhat easier, big yardings coming forward, prices for baconers and porkers being equal to 6d per pound. Stores are still meeting with ready sale. Horses.—Good farm sorts are selling well, hut heavy draughts and light horses are not in demand. We quote:—

Bullocks, prime extra heavy £l4 to £l6, medium £ll 10s to £l2 10s ; cows, prime £9 10s to £lO 10s, medium £7 10s to £9, unfinished £6 5s to £6 15s ; heifers, prime £9 10s to £lO 10s ; steers, four-year forward £7 10s to £S, three-year stores £5 15s to £6 ss, two-year good £5 10s to £5 15s, 18-months £4 to £4 10s ; good yearling steers, £3 to £4 ; good yearling heifers (Jersey), £4 10s to £5 10s ; good fresh empty cows, £3 10s to £4 5s ; aged store cows, 30s to £2 ; choice in-calf dairy heifers (best Jersey cross), £lO to £lO 10s ; 21year Jersey-cross springing heifers, £lO to £ll ; 21-year Shorthorn dairy heifers, £8 10s to £9 10s ; good dairy herds (tested), £lO 10s to £l3 ; others, £7 to £S 10s.

Sheep. Wethers, prime woolly heavy 33s to 345, prime woolly medium 27s to 295, prime shorn heavy 26s to 295, prime shorn medium 21s to 22s 6d ; ewes, prime woolly heavy 24s to 26s Gd, prime woolly light 21s to 225, prime shorn 18s to 20s ; store wethers, four-tooth shorn 21s to 22s 6d, two-tooth 19s to 20s j, ewes, four, six and eight tooth with lambs 27s 6d to 30s, five-year with lambs 24s to 265, aged with lambs 17s to ISs ; hoggets, fat 24s to 275, good store woolly 17s 6d to 18s 6d, small woolly 11s 6d to 13s.

Pigs.—Baconers, prime £3 16s to £1 ss, medium £3 10s to £3 15s ; porkers, £2 15s to £3 ; slips, 38s to £2 ; weaners, 17s to 24s ; breedingsows (good), £7 10s to £8 10s. Horses. —Heavy draughts, £35 to £SO ; medium, £2B to £32 ; spring cart sorts, £l6 to £lB ; harness horses, £8 to £lO ; hacks, £5 to £B.

THE LONDON MARKET. The New Zealand Meat Producers Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated 29th October, 1926, advising Smithfield delivered prices at that date as follow":—N.Z. Wethers and Maidens. —Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561 b and under 6 : &d, 571 bto 641 b 63d, 651 b to 72!b 5Ad ; other brands, 561 b and under 6id, 571 b to 641 b 53d, 651 b to 721 b 52d. N.Z. Ewes. —641 b and under 4gd. N.Z. Lambs. —Canterbury quality, 361 b and under 101 d, 371 b to 421 b 9id, 431 b to 501 b Bd, seconds 93d ; selected brands, 361 b and under 10d, 371 b to 421 b 8!d ; other brands, first quality, 421 b and under 9 Id, seconds 9|d.

CLEARING SALE. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Com-> pany held a clearing sale on the Walton-Iverecne road on Thursday on behalf of Mr. D. W. Jones. The! prices realised were as follow : Empty yearling Jersey heifers £3 13s to £3 19s, others £2 2s 6d to £2 12s 6d ; yearling Holstein heifers £3 16s J best in-calf heifers £7 10s, others £4 10s to £5 ; Jersey bulls £9 10s to 16gns ; farm horses £26 to £3O. Implements and sundries sold well.
