LAST SEASON’S CHEESE.
ON LONDON MARKET. A Question of Quality. In connection with the large stocks of butter and cheese on the London market, some of the Waikato dairy companies holding stocks of last season's cheese have been advised from independent sources that a quantity of this cheese was rapidly deteriorating ; in fact some of it had gone bad. One of these companies got into touch with the Control Board and asked that an inspection be made of its cheese in the London stores. The company was advised to sell ; the directors decided to sell ; the cheese was sold, but instead of it reaching a low figure, as was expected, the price was S6s per cwt, one of the highest figures ruling at that time, and a higher price than can be obtained for cheese to-day. This set the directors thinking : was there anything wrong with the cheese ?
