Mr. W. Wright, of Peria (Matamata), lost a valuable cow recently in a rather strange manner, a. postmortem disclosing the fact that a piece of thin steel wire had become embedded in the gullet. Although the wire was thin, and had rusted nearly through in places, it was so strong that it could not be bent with the fingers.
