Itinerant traders, namely, traders who may hire a hall or other building temporarily in the town for the sale of goods, get off lightly by way of fees in Matamata, the license "cost being only Is for a month, rising to £2 for a year. Allen, solicitor for the Tauhei Drainage Board, in dealing with the principle ‘-of an objector to the engineer’s classification of the Tauhei area, drew forth an amusing story from the magistrate, Mr. j. W. Poynton, at Morrinsville on Monday. It concerned two boys who were fighting vigorously and who were interrupted by an old gentleman, who asked why they were fighting. “He said my sister has cross eyes, red hair and buck teeth,” said the smallest of the two combatants. “ And has she ? ” queried the interfering one. _ “ I aint got no sister, it is the principle I am fighting for,” was the retort in an injured tone. “ Lazy Bones,” with an all-star cast, featuring Madge Bellamy, Buck Jones, Leslie Fenton, Zazu Pitts and Jane Novak, will be screened in Putaruru next Saturday. The story is of a looable idler’s triumph.* At the request of Mr. Clutha McKenzie a sale of basketware, etc., from the Jubilee Institute for the Blind has been organised in Putaruru for Friday and Saturday of this week.
