MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

PUTARURU SITTING. The regular sitting of the above court was held on Thursday and Friday last, Mr. W. G. Kenrick dealt with a fairly heavy list of cases. FAILURE TO CLOSE. The Inspector of Awards proceeded against Leon Ting for failing to comp.y with the statutory half-holiday regulations. Mr. F. Wilson, who appeared for the District Inspector, stated that complaints had been received, and that on being interviewed Ting had admitted the offence, but had pleaded ignorance of the law. A. fine of £1 , plus 7s costs, was imposed. TERRITORIAL UNIFORM. F. C. P. Heineman, who failed to return a hat valued at 5s 6d to the military authorities, was ordered to pay this amout, plus £1 2s costs. A WAR TROPHY. Thomas Boyd, a returned soldier, was charged with failing to register an automatic pistol of German make. Boyd stated that the weapon had been souvenired by him while in France. It had no trigger or magazine, and consequently was useless. The pistol had been given to his father, and on his death had again come into Boyd’s possession. The Magistrate agreed that the weapon was useless in its present condition, but pointed out that a license must be obtained for all such weapons. He would have to order the forfeiture of-the pistol, and payment of costs, 15s. POSSESSION OF HOUSE. A. J. Richards applied for possession of a house occupied by a tenant named Watts, who had become seriously in arrears with his rent. R. Watts, the defendant, stated that i he had eight children and could not obtain another dwelling. Mr. Kenrick remarked that no doubt the number of children would hinder defendant in getting another house, hut on the other hand the rent was only 10s per week, and it had not Been paid. Judgment for £9, plus £3 8s costs, was given, and defendant was ordered to give up possession of the building by November 1. CiyiL CASES.
