THE PUTARURU PRESS. Office - - - - Oxford Place ’Phone 28 - - - P.O. Box 44 THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1926. ELECTORS’ ROLL.
IN another column notification is given of the compilation of an electors’ roll for the recently-constituted Putaruru Town Board District. Already some three hundred odd names have been secured of those entitled to vote at the forthcoming election for the first town board, but in this connection it should be noted that the onus is on every resident to see that his (or her) name is on the roll if they be so entitled. So far as the election of members is concerned, the franchise is very wide, and includes every resident over the age of 21 who has been in New Zealand for at least one year and resided in this district at least three months prior to the date of the poll. This qualification also entitles a resident to nominate for appointment as one of the commissioners at the election. To expedite matters and ensure that a clean and complete roll is assured everyone interested should inspect the roll during the hours prescribed, to ensure not only that their own names are inserted, but to assist with any corrections which may possibly be needed.
