TIRAU.
The Loyal Patetere Oddfellows’ Lodge held its annual ball in. the Tirau Hall last week. It proved to be the most popular event of the year, there being ninety couples present. The hall was beautifully decorated, whilst the supper was a particular feature. The music was supplied by Bropk’s orchestra and Bros. W. Simpson and B. Gavin were M.’sC. The Tirau tennis courts are receiving attention at present in preparation for the season’s play. It is expected that the club will be strengthened with some new members for the coming season.
The new concrete bridge over the Oraka stream on the Tirau-Rotorua road is just about completed, whilst the culvert which is replacing a bridge on the Tirau-Cambridge road is well in hand.
Mrs. F. L. Rose, of Auckland, is on a visit to her son and daughter-in-law in Tirau. Mrs. Rose is a very old identity of Tirau—and for that matter one of the oldest in the county—and her visits are welcomed by many old friends.
