OUR DAIRY SUPREMACY.
AN INTERESTING TABLE. In -spite of all the talk about Denmark’s domination in the dairy world New Zealand holds pride o«f place, and that very definitely, in perhaps the mosit important test of supremacy—dairy cattle per head of population. On this basis it outstrips its rival by more than two to one, as it does, indeed, any other country. The British Minister of Agriculture recently published an interesting table showing the number of dairy cattle per 100 population in various countries, subject to difference of definition and classification. It is as follows:
'Cduntry. No. Dairy Cattle. Dairy Cattle per 100 of Population. New Zealand 1,292,236 93.4 Denmark . 1,368 548 40.5 Canada .... . 3,726,985 40.4 Irisih Free S. 1.264.36S 40.0 Australia . '2.304.644 39.2 U.S.A. ...... . 22.255.000 19 9 France .... . 7.303,940 IS.6 Germany . 9.723.23S 15.6 Holland .... . 1.0S5.713 15.6 Rumania . 2.426 233 14.5 Belgium S39.076 10.S Great Britain 3,163.523 7.2
