STOCK SALES.
MATAMATA. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their regular stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday, prices being as follows: Sheep: Wethers, 28s 9d. Cattle: Fat cows, £6 10s to £8 6s; store cows, £3 2s to £4; inferior store cows, 29s to £2 10s. • Dairy Cattle; Dairy cows and heifers, best, £8 to £l3; inferior sorts, £4 to £6. Pigs: There was a large yarding of pigs, mostly stores. Good stores, 29s to 335; weaners, from ISs to 365; sows with young, £7 7s 6d; light porkers, 39s to £2 2s. MORRINSVILLE. There was another large yarding' at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s stock sale at Morrinsville on Friday. Little change was noted in the beef prices, except that heifer beef was easier. Best steer beef sold from 36s to 37s per 1001 b, heifer beef 34s to 355, and cow beef from 29s to 31s. There was a large yarding of prime fat steers, the largest at Morrinsville for some time, a total of 130 prime bullocks being penned, and all were sold under the hammer. The top price of £ls 15s was obtained by Mr. R. J. Maisey, of Turanga-o-moana, who had in a draft of 24, which sold from £l3 17s 6d to £ls 15s. There was again a' large yarding of dairy stock, but the demand was less keen than- earlier -in the season, while the quality of many of the animals was not up to the standard of past sales. The top price for heifers was £l3 and for cows £l2 10s.
The yarding of sheep was not large. Pigs were in large numbers, values being slightly easier. The prices are;—•
Beef.—Extra prime bullocks £ls 5s to £ls 15s, prime fat bullocks £l3 10s to £l4 7s 6d, lighter £ll 5s to £l2, unfinished £lO 15s ;. prime fat heifers £S 'to £9 17s, lighter £6 5s to £6 12s 6d ; heavy fat cows £8 10s to £lO ss, lighter £6 10s to £7 10s, unfinished £5 to £6, fresh-conditioned £3 17s 6d to £4 10s, good empty stores £2 12s Gd to £3 10s, stores £1 15s to £2 3s, botiers 15s to £1 5s ; empty two-year heifers £2 7s 6d to £3 10s. Young Stock. Yearling Jersey heifers £3 Is to £3 10s ; mixed heifer calves £1 5s to £1 17s. Dairy Cattle.—Best springing Jersey heifers £9 10s to £l3, Jersey and Jersey cross £7 to £8 10s, small and backward £3 15s to £6 ; best cows £8 to £l2 10s, others £6 to £7 ss, late calvers £3 to £5 10s. Sheep.—Fat hoggets 26s 9d to 27s ; store hoggets 13s to 17s 6d ; forwardconditioned ewes 17s. Pigs.—Baconers £3 17s to £4 5s ; porkers £2 15s to £3 10s ; sows in pig £3 17s 6d to £5 5s ; good stores. £2 2s to £2 6s ; slips 27s to 37s 6d ; weaners 19s to 255. HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co’s : weekly stock sale in the Frankton yards on Tuesday, there was a small entry of steer and cow beef, which sold at lower rates than the previous week. A medium yarding of fat sheep were submitted, and we are unable to report any improvement in values. A full yarding of fat pigs were penned and prices were easier. The usual heavy yarding of store pigs came forward and sold firm at the usual high values. Prices:— Beef.—Medium weight prime fat steers sold to £l4 15s, lighter £l2 17s 6d, light £S 19s to £lO 3s, unfinished £6 2s to £7 10s; best fat cows sold to £lO 12s Gd, medium £8 to £S 10s, light £6 to £6 10s; fresh-conditioned cows £4 2s 6d to £4 15s; good framed stores, £3 to £3 10s; small stores, 25s to £2. The advertised line of Hereford cows were passed in, failing to reach the vendor’s reserve. Sheep.—Prime shorn wethers 26s 3d; medium fat wethers in wool 30s, light 255; prime woolly hoggests 23s 3d to 25s 7d, lighter 21s 9d; plain fat ewes 19s to 2ls. Pigs.—Heavy baconers £4 Ss to £4 10s, lighter £4 to £4 ss; medium baconers £3 10s to £3 17s; good porkers and light baconers £3 5s to £3 -7s 6d; medium porkers, £2 15s to £3 3s, light and unfinished £2 5s to £2 12s; choppers, £4 to £4 ss; sows with young sold to £9 ss, inferior £2 10s to £3; large stores £2 2s to £2 10s; best slips 35s to 38s, others 25s to 325; good weaners 25s to 30s, small 17s to 21s, young 10s to 13s.

WAIKATO MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Auctioneering: Company repbrts under date September f Beef.—Plenty of prime ox and cow is offering', with prices firm, BrsoJox making 37s per 100, and prime cow and heifer 33s to 345, with every prospect of a further riseFat Sheep.—The market has eased considerably, especially for wethers, due no doubt to the number offering, with very little prospect of any improvement. Store Sheep.—There is a good demand for store wethers and hoggets, with only a limited number ottering. Ewes with lambs at foot are dull of sale. Store Cattle.—The demand for all classes fs 'firm, and'good* competition exists for two-year and three-year . steers, yearling steers, good-framed store cows, and well-grown yearling heifers, especially Jersey and Jersey cross. Dairy Cattle.—Good dairy herds, and heifers well forward, are still in demand, and the supply is only > limited ; poor and inferior not wanted. Pigs.—The yardings of fats are increasing and prices, if anything, are easier. Full yardings of all classes of steers are still coming forward and the demand is firm. .. Horses.—The competition' at the Cambridge horse fair for heavy draughts was only fair. Good young, medium active farm sorts were in demand. Hacks and harness horses were not wanted.
