DIMMING AND SPOTTING.
While it is becoming generally admitted that dimming is a doubtful practice, and more likely to cause accidents tha'h to avoid them, there is another extreme that needs to be guarded against, namely, the use of the spotlight against an approaching car. This practice is abominably discourteous and highly dangerous, and it certainly should be an indictable offence. The spotlight is useful on sharp corners, or for night repairs on the road, but it was never intended to be used against approaching cars. With drivers blinding each other by means of spotlights the risk of accident is greatly increased.
