Speaking of loans to local churches (reports the Marlborough Express), Bishop Sadlier remarked at the Nelson Diocesan Synod that such loans had been made on the personal guarantee of the local church people for a period extending over 60 years, and that in not a single instance have the guarantors been called upon to pay the loan. “ I regard this fact,’’ said he, “ as a great tribute to the integrity of our church people.”
