THE SEASON’S AVERAGES. Lower Waikato Groups. The following are the season’s butterfat averages in the Matamata and Putaruru groups of the New Zealand Herd-testing Association, the number of cows in the groups quoted being given in parentheses:— Hinuera.—Herds 24, cows 887, group average 230.171 b in 246 days ; highest herd 2891 b (29), lowest 161.871 b (29) ; best cow 461.551 b in 299 days, worst 74.931 b in 207 days. Okoroire.—Herds 26, cows 1428, group average 220.101 b in 239 days ; highest herd average 271.691 b (29), lowest 158.551 b (42) ; best cow 434.241 b in 303 days, worst 99.161 b in 214 days.
Peria.—Herds 26, cows 1478, group average 223.G51b in 238 days ; highest herd average 2.93.31 b (59), lowest 121.641 b (33) ; best cow 478.881 bin 272 days, worst 84.621 b in 189 days. Waharoa.—Herds 25, cows 1382, group average 238.651 b in 242 days ; highest herd average 292.32ib (30), lowest 146.981 b (37) ; best cow 478.731 b in 268 days, worst 73.331 b in 196 days. Putaruru.—Herds 25, cows 934, group avei-age 208.031 b in 239 days ; highest herd average 298.13ib (37), lowest 140.561 b (41) ; best cow 507.21 b in 289 days, worst 77.7C1b in 205 days. Tirau.—Herds 23, cows 1436, group average 223.9811) in 235 days ; highest herd 325.511 b (54), lowest 119.671 b (31) ; best cow 464.811 b in 261 days, worst 86.41 b in 191 days. The highest herd average in the association was 406.751 b in 311 days and the lowest 98.521 bin 194 days. The best cow gave 647.91 b in 299 days, and the worst 35.941 b in 188 days.
