At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s sale in the Frankton yards on Tuesday there was a fair entry of beef and mutton, and—qnly a small number of fat and store pigs were penned. , Prime cow and heifer beef was firmer than the previous week. Good quality prime heavy cows sold to £ll ’ 12s 6d, lighter prime '£lo to £lO 10s, medium cows £7 12s to £7 13s, prime fat heifers £7 13s to £8 11s, light cows and heifers £5 10s to £5 15s, fresh-conditioned cows £4 12s to £4 15s Gd. Fat sheep showed a considerable improvement on prices reported at other late markets. Fat wethers sold to 325, prime fat ewes 26s 6d, prime fat lambs 27s 3d, medium store wethers 245, cull lambs 9s 6d." Pigs.—Prices for all classes were firm at late rates. Prime heavy baconers £5 Is to £5 ss, good baconers £4 to £4 10s, good porkers and light baconers £3 5s to £3 9s, medium baconers £3 10s to £3 17s, medium porkers £2 17s to £3 2s, light porkers £2 5s to £2 12s, choppers £4 10s to £4 17s 6d, large stores £2 10s to £2 13s, best slips 30s to 355, small slips £1 to £1 7s, weaners, best 17s to young and small 9s 6d to 14s. ■■ —' RETAIL PRICES OF N.Z. MEAT LONDON. The New Zealand Meat Producers Board has been advised by cable from its London manager that the retail prices issued as a guide to the public by the superintendent of the Smithfield market for New Zealand lamb ) and mutton retailed on London on 16th July, 1926, were as follow (the retail prices for the corresponding* date last year are shown in parentheses'):— New Zealand Lamb (per pound).— Legs 14-16 d (18-19 d), shoulders 14-lift? - (17-lSd), loins 14d (18d), necks (lOd), breasts 6d (6d). New Zealand Mutton (wether).- — Legs 10-12 d (12-14 d), shoulders 8-10 d (9-12 d), loins 8d (9-12 d), necks 7-9 d (6-9 d), breasts 4d (3-sd). The hoard’s London manager also mentions that Harrods (a large departmental store in London) is to-day advertising lamb forequarters lid,- | . hindquarters Is 3id.
