TIRAU.
The lambing season has commenced early in the Tirau district. Mr. S. J. Bear has had iambs over a week, over 30 ewes having produced youngsters to the extent of just over 100 per cent. The first English truck to come into the Tirau district is now being fitted with a body, by the Tirau coachbuilders for Messrs. Rose Bros., Ltd. Mr. N. Horscroft was taken ill last week and his condition has since given cause for anxiety. The Tirau Oddfellows’ Lodge held a social in the Public Hall last week, there being a very large attendance. The music was supplied by Brook’s orchestra and Bro. Simpson was M.C. The social should be a financial success. Mrs. H. J. Moore-Jones, of Auckland, formerly of Matamata, is on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. H. L. Bayly, Tirau. Mr. J. W. Anderson, chairman of the Matamata County Council, left on Monday evening to attend the Cbunty Association’s annual conference at j Wellington. Mr. N. Horscroft, who has been confined to his bed for some time, is now recovering after a rather severe illness.
