The secretary Waikato Trotting: Club wrote stating that his club in- '■ tended holding their meeting at, Hamilton on December 5 next, and on March 5, 1927. Mr. Bell said that the position was the same as last year, when the dates clashed, but this year the Trotting Club would be racing in .Hamilton in- 1 stead of Auckland. He suggested that the Trotting -Club he written to andi, informed that “ there is no other date available for Matamata to race.” This course was agreed to. The Trotting Conference are also to | be notified that it was impossible for •Matamata to alter the date, and point out that under the present date ' schedule both clubs will suffer. The terms of the lease of ‘the racecourse to Mr. Campbell were explained by Mr. Bell, and authority was given to have the document executed. The question of tree-planting was under discussion. It was stated that Mr. Banks had planted the back line of the course on his own side, and the work would be a great advantage to the club. . Eventually a committee composed of Messrs. Price and Crabb was appointed to go into the matter of further planting, and was given power ' to purchase trees and erect whatever 1 fencing is necessary. Mr. Alan Bowler is to be asked to co-operate with the committee. Mr. Price said that he had noticed that several clubs had applied for a refund from the Commissioner of Taxes, for the tax paid on motor car entrance money, this latter not being taxable. The secretary was instructed to apply for a refund. Mr. Cray, architect, forwarded particulars of iron fencing suitable for fencing in the bird cage. The estimated cost was £l9 10s per chain, labour included, and about 63 chains would require to be erected. Mr. Price proposed that the scheme outlined by Mr. Cray be adopted. Mr. Tims seconded. Mr. Crabb moved, as'an amendment, that a cheaper fence be erected and that the enclosure be included. The amendment was seconded by Mr. Gale and carried. Mr. Crabb also suggested that a small committee be appointed to inspect other racecourses to decide which was the most suitable fence both for the birdcage and enclosure. Messrs. Crabb, White and Price were appointed a committee to investigate the whole question of fencing, and report. It was agreed that tenders be called immediately for the following improvements: Shifting the tote house to its permanent position; adding 30ft to its length one one end, and flooring the building in wood; erection of at least three loose boxes and as many stalls as funds will permit.
