SWEDE TURNIPS.

A SPLENDID CROP. One of the finest crops of swede turnips seen in the Morrinsville district is on Mr. O. P. Mortensen’s farm at Kereone. Mr. Mortensen has seven acres, the crop being planted during* Christmas week with 2j>cwt of manure to the acre, the mixture containing 50 per cent, bonedust and 50 per cent, superphosphate. The crop consists of large, well-shaped, roots,, which in size resemble fairly-large mangels. Mr. Mortensen stated that he had not weighed any of the turnips, hut an exhibit of 15, which secured seciond place at the Waikato Show, measured from 26Ain i to 29in , in diameter.
