THE MONTHLY MEETING. Tlie usual monthly meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Tower Board was held at the conclusion of the annual meeting. There were present: Messrs. F. M. Strange *... (Piako county, cliairman), G. Howie (Morrinsviile borough), J. B. Thomas {Piako county), J. Pohlen and J. W. Anderson (Matamata county), J. Price (Matamata town district), C. A. Arthur (Te Aroha borough), F. E. Elatt (Paeroa borough), W. E. G. Willey (Hauraki Plains county), H. M. Corbett (Ohinemuri county), J. McCormick (Thames county). An apology was received from Mr. H. R. Bush (Thames borough). Mr. W. P. Gauvain (consulting engineer) was present. The chairman welcomed Mr. Corbett, who the chairman characterised as a very able member. AN ELECTRICAL DISPLAY. The Auckland Electric Power Board suggested that the Thames Valley Board should Join with other j power boards in making a a electrical ] display at the Auckland Winter Show. ; The Auckland board was contributing 1 £3OO and the Waitemata board £SO. j No. grant was made, members con- ' sidering that if such an exhibit were ' made at the Waikato show it would' be to the benefit of the board, but it was thought that not many people from this board’s district would visit the Auckland show. LOAN MONEY OFFERING. AW ellington firm of brokers offered to place the board’s £150,000 loan with Australian investors at 5i per cent for 3Si years, plus 1 per cent sinking fund, and advanced in such instalments as the board required. Brokerage would be 1 per cent. The letter was received. FINANCE. Accounts passed for payment totalled £20,314 5s lid in the power fund account and £8729 10s in the loan account.
POLES COMMITTEE. Mr. Willey’s name was added to the poles committee in place of Mr. Claxton FINANCE COMMITTEE. The Finance Committee was elected as follows:—Messrs. J. Price, F. M. Strange, C. A. Arthur, J. B. Thomas, F. E. Flatt and J. Pohlen CHAIRMAN’S HONORARIUM. The chairman’s honorarium was fixed at the same amount as last year. It was stated that the proposed reticulation of Starky’s road would not be proceeded with as the load promised would not be payable. There would be a deficiency of over £IOO. TAHUNA TO HAURAKI PLAINS. On Mr. Willey’s motion a canvas was authorised for the proposed line from Tahur.a to Hauraki Plains. POWER FOR TE POI. On the motion of Mr. Pohlen, further reticulation at Te Poi was authorised.
