A tale worthy of ten cinema plots m one was said to have been spun by an out-of-work man, named John Cyril Brelsford, who was summoned by his wife for maintenance at Sheffield (reports the London DaTy Chronicle). It was declared that on her marriage Brelsford — Told, his wife that he was applying for a post at Scotland Yard. By means of a printing set sent himself letters showing that he had obtained the appointment provided he proved efficient in German, Spanish, French, and shorthand.Another letter arrived “ calling ” him to an examination, and later he received an “ official ” intimation that he had passed, in every subject with 100 marks, and had obtained the appointment at £2 a ween, with a pension of £9 a week after 2o years’ service. His wife handed him her savings of over £3O, and he was supposed to have gone to London. . His next self-recorded adventures included, — Leap in front of an express, thus saving a girl’s life, for which his colleagues were making him a present. Order to go to America with police band. Appointment as “ musical director for the British Bradcasting Company.” The magistrate made an order for him to pay 10s a week to his wife’s maintenance.
