“ When you take on public duties you must remember that you are a public servant. You do not always get appreciation—you sometimes get a kick, you must take it with a smile.”—Mr. H. M. Corbett at the Thames Val’ey Power Board meeting on Thursday.
The Canterbury College, writing to the Thames Valley Electric Power Board, which met on Thursday, advised that the Dean of Faculty of Engineering submitted the matter of the employment of students by the Thames Valley Power Board for consideration by the Engineering Society of the College. “ After discussing the question,” continued the letter, “ the society was of the opinion that the proposal offered opportunities for valrable experience which the Society did not wish to lose, but the salary offered by the board would not be sufficient to induce many applicants to take advantage of the proposal.” Mr. FTatt: “ You don’t expect a high lorie of pay for th-t. It is experience they are after ” The matter was left in abeyance for further information to be obtained.
