WHERE BURNS WAS BORN.
AYRSHIRE ESTATE TO BE SOLD. Belleisle JBstate,. at Alloway, Ayrshire, on which Robert Burns was born 167 years ago, is one of many properties which will come under the hammer of the auctioneer during the spring, the auctioneer being the Glasgow estate agents, Messrs Walker, Prasex and Steele. The actual cottage where “ablast of Jan war’ win ’ blew hansel in on Robin ’ ‘ still stands withih the original boundaries of the estate, turned into a fitting memorial to the poet, but it, ol' course, is not included in the sale. To Burns Belleisle must have been a “weel-kent” spot, as his younger days were spent within its marches and immediate neighbourhood. During his lifetime the mansion appears to have been quite a moderatesized house, a great difference from the present magnificent residence, which was the Ayrshire seat of the late Lord Glentanar. The policies are very beautiful, and, with one farm and various cottages, extend to about 200 acres.
