THE APRIL MEETING. The Thames Valley Electric Power Board met at Te Aroha on Tuesday, there being present : Messrs. F. H. n ! Claxton, chairman (Thames borough) yI G. Grace (Ohinemuri county), F. E. Flatt--1 (Paeroa borough), W. E. G. Willey s (Hauraki Plains county), W. J. McI Cormick (Thames county) and C. A. 1 Arthur (Te Aroha borough). f WAIKINO -BOMBAY LINE. The Minister of Public Works advised that the department expected'to j have the Bombay-Waikino transmission line completed and ready for ~ operation by the end of the year. 1 PREVENTION OF. ACCIDENTS. t , The Waikato branch of the N.Z. i Farmers’ Union, writing with regard .i to fatal accidents caused by the ! breaking of electric power lines, in- .: quired what steps the board was tak- | ing to safeguard human and animal I life against fallen wires in future. . i It was decided to reply that the . board was taking all possible precau- - \ tions to prevent accidents. 1 j MAUKOKO FLAX MILL. I . The N.Z. Co-op. Dairy Co. wrote j stating .that it had decided to enter . into a five-years’ agreement for a i supply of electric power for the Mau--1 koro sawmill. 5 LOAN MONEYS. I The Public Trust Office advised that ' the postmaster at Te Aroha had been i instructed to pay the sum of £15,000 to the credit of the board’s account, being an instalment of the £50,000 loan. SOUTHERN APPRECIATION. , The secretary of the Banks Peninsula Electric Power Board wrote : i “ Please accept my best thanks for I copy of your balance-sheet and congratulations on such successful re--1 suits. Our board requires the assistance of a small rath and is likely to do so for some considerable time.” WIREMEN’S EXAMINATIONS. Mr. Price asked what numbers of the board’s employees had passed the recent wiremen’s examination. He understood that several had passed with honours. The engineer promised to supply this information lor the next meeting. NEW WORKS. | Subject to the funds being avail- J able from the proposed loan it was decided to proceed with the following reticulation works : Hurst’s road (Te , Poi), Thau - Cambridge read, and ] Mackaytown. * The engineer stated that each line was payable, but in connection with the Tirau-Cambridge road, although the revenue was sufficient to cover the reticulation of the area, it was not sufficient to link up with the main line, but as tins connection was to the advantage of the board’s operations, the cost could not be charged directly to the consumers. On Mr. Thomas’ recommendation it was decided to make a canvass of Starkey’s and Dodd’s roads. ACCOUNTS. Accounts totalling £15,242 6s lid 1 were passed for payment, TRUCK FOR MORRINSVILLE. The purchase of a one-ton truck for Morrinsville was authorised. 1
