i SINGLE WARD SYSTEM. i Small Companies’ Views. f Criticism of the system of electing members to the Dairy Export Control Board was made at a conference of jsmall co-operative dairy companies in South /Auckland. Cambridge, XVlorrinsvifie, Hinuera, Te Poi, Tokcroa, Te Awamutu, Piopio, Kaiteke and East Tsmaki companies were represented. f The conference carried the following resolution: “That this conference Is in favour of the single ward system

of electing members of the Dairy Produce Control Board, with the voting to be exercised by ,the individual producers.” Two companies, Kawhia and Kakepuku, wrote stating that they were strongly in favour of the single ward system. The representative of the Kaitieki company said he was not authorised to either support or vote against the resolution at this stage. The conference also passed the following resolution unanimously: “That the Minister of Agriculture be asked whether his instructions to the Control Board were such as to cause the board to cancel its first circular and cause the board to appoint a chairman of the conference and decide upon the basis of voting at the conference.” Messrs. J. Sinclair and F. W. Seifert were instructed to draw up a scheme for a federation of small cooperative dairy companies operating in South Auckland.
