ANZAC DAY.
MEMORIAL SERVICE. Local Arrangements. A meeting was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Friday to make arrangements for a united memorial service on Anzac Day. Owing to various causes there was a very poor muster, those attending being. Revs. E. Ward, C. W. Brown, Messrs. Nicklin, Morrison, C. D. Brown and G. G. Griffiths (chair). The following arrangements were, with other details, decided on:— That a united service be held in the Memorial Park at 2.30 p.m. if fine; and if the weather is at all threatening .that the service be held in the Town HalL. That Ensign. Green and Rev. E. Ward be asked to give the addresses, and that Rev. C. W. Brown read the lesson, and Rev. W. T. Brabyn. lead in prayerThat Mr. J. G. Gasparich (R.S.) be invited to take the? chair. That the Putaruru Brass Band he asked to take part,, and that .the selection of hymns be left to the bandsmen. That Kipling’s “ Recessional ” be included. That any surplus over and above expenses be devoted to purchasing a Union Jack to become the property of the Town Board. That seats be reserved for relatives of deceased soldiers. That the management committee consist of F. Snell, J. R. OLochhead, C. D. Brown and G. G. Griffiths (hon. secretary).
