CLEARANCE SALE. There was a good muster of both local and- outside buyers at Mr. John Dawson’s clearance sale at Walton on Thursday, conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co., and some good prices were realised for the pedigree dairy cattle and for the best grades. The principal buyers of the pedigrees were Messrs. M. Shaw and H. Buckley (Matamata), Orr Bros. (Waharoa), Moore (Hinuera), P. Melrose, A. E. Gilling-ham and Finlay (Walton), C. Matthews and A. W. Edmonds (Hamilton). The following prices ruled:— Best grade cows £8 10s to £lO, others £7 5s to £B, inferior cows £3 10s to £6, grade two-year-old Jersey heifers (springers) £7 10s to £8 15s, grade Jersey calves £3 12s 6d, pedigree Jersey calves 7gns to 91g-ns, pedigree Jersey cows (best sorts) 23gns to 27gns, others logns to 20gns, backward ones 10g-ns to 15gns, pedigree yearling- heifers lOgns. Farm horses £lB 10s to £27 10s. MATAMATA. The Farmers’ Auctioneering- Co.’s Matamata sale on Wednesday was a somewhat quiet one for this company, the reason being- that holidays always disturb the free flow of the business of these regular fixtures. Fat cows £4 to £4 17s 6d, lighter sorts £2 15s to £3 heifer calves 36s to £2 ss. Pig’s.—Porkers 26s to 30s, weaners 12s to 14s, smaller sorts 5s to 7s. HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ AuctioneeringCo.’s Frankton sale on Wednesday there was a small yarding of cow and heifer beef and prices were firmer for all classes. Prices:— Medium-weight prime cows and heifers £7 to £7 6s, lighter £5 7s Gd to .£5 17s 6d, young and light £4 Ss to £5, unfinished £3 16s to £4, plain and rough £2 10s to £2 15s, runners £2 17s to £3 13s, best vealers £2 2s to £3 Is, small and young £1 2s to £2, store cows 36s to £2 6s, fair S.H. steer calves £2, heifers £1 7s. Sheep.—Only a few odd pens of medium-quality fat ewes were penned and sold at slightly-improved rates, realising from 19s lOd to 21s 3d. iPigs.—A fair number of fat and store pigs were penned, with only a limited number of good-quality heavy baconers, which sold at late' rates. Medium-quality porkers and light baconers were easier and all classes of stores were dull of sale.
