BOWLING.

CAMBRIDGE TOURNAMENT. The Tirau rink to play in the Cambridge Easter tournament is: H. Main, T. Little, W. Main, J. Watson (s). The Putaruru rink will be: Leggatt, ‘ Lochhead, Francis, Pearse (s). These rinks, with the exception that F. Rose played insteadbf W. Main, met in a trial g-ame at Tirau on Saturday, victory going to Tirau by 22—19. TIRAU V. PUTARURU. An interesting g-ame was played at Tirau between the rinks to be sent by both the above clubs to take part in the Cambridge bowling- tournament at Easter. The match, being in the nature of a trial, was keenly contested by both sides and was very even all through. The score was 18 all at the 21st- head and an. extra four heads were decided on. At the 25th head the score was, Tirau 20, Putaruru 19, and the visitors were lying 4 up with Watson having a bowl to play. Then followed “ one out of the box,” for with a perfect draw Watson did the apparently impossible and lay 1 up with the last bowl of the match; Details of the teams and scores are as follow : Tirau, Main, junior, F. The final resulted:— Waikino (Gallagher) 20, v. Matamata (Stewart) 16. The president expressed pleasure at the fact that two veterans were competing- that day. He mentioned that this was the fourth time that Gallagher had won the tournament and that Stewart had won it twice and was runner-up that day, the fourth tournament at which he had competed-
