EGGS IN BRITAIN.
110 PER HEAD USED PER YEAR. Great ißritain £20,000,000 •worth of eggs yearly and produces eggs to nearly the same value. The ' Dumber of eggs used in the old country averages one hundred and ten per head of population per year. This means that 4233 million eggs are needed to supply the demand and in addition 26,483 tons of eggs not
'in shell are consumed. The British Minister of Agriculture is endeavouring to assist the increase of homeraised eggs against those produced abroad and has issued a report on the subject which is largely devoted to the question of marketing. It is evident from the minister’s report that in Great Britain poultry farmers need a good deal of education in the matter of organisation for distribution and some in the direction of improvement of products, but, as in New Zealand and many other countries, the great reformation needed is in economical distribution.
