CRICKET.

PUTARURU v. WAOTU. This game was played at Putaruru and. resulted in an easy victory for the visitors by an innings and 19 runs. The game was played in perfect weather, but started late owing to the home team and some of the visitors not arriving to time. The bowlers, generally speaking, held the upper hand throughout the day, with tire exception of when Thorpe was batting. The fielding of both sides was keen, that of Putaruru being a big improvement on recent displays. Waotu thoroughly deserved their victory, being by far the more solid side.
