TO DESTROY RAGWORT.

AN EFFECTIVE METHOD. In a letter to the Te Aroha News, Mr. F. M. Strange, of Mangaiti, states : “Re the menace of ragwort. The simplest way to destroy rag-wort is to cut the plant off within a few inches of the g-round when it is in bloom and treat each stalk with a drop of sulphuric acid. In a few days the stump will be found completely rotten. When pulled up in the ordinary way many broken roots are left in the ground, all of which grow, with the result that the job has to be repeated year after year. The sulphuric acid treatment <i. es not take any longer than pulling the plants up and has the advantage of being thoroughly efficacious.”
