TOKOROA.
A special meeting of the trustees of the Tokcroa Memorial Hall was held on Saturday evening. The business of the evening was to discuss the proposed spending of the £IOO now in hand on the work of lining the sides and ceiling of the hall. Messrs. Price, Mossop, McHale, Voice, Sloper and West and Mr. L. Newell (secretary) were present. Mr. J. Price (chairman of trustees) presided. It having been suggested that by way of compliment to the New Zealand Perpetual Forests Co., Ltd., to whom the £IOO to the hall credit was largely due, that pinus insignus timber be used in lining the hall, the secretary had secured comparative quotation of costs for that timber and rimu. The latter proving much the cheaper, and it was decided to line the hall with rimu. It was also decided that as a further step to economy the trustees should procure the timber themselves, and see it carted and stacked for drying. Tenders cov.’ l then be called for labour only. The secretary was authorised to take immediate steps in the matter of ordering the timber.
Other suggestions with respect to hall improvements were postponed, pending the ascertaining of what amount of funds would be in hand after the completion of the present undertaking.
