THE HAY CHOPS.
DISTRICTS COMPARED. The Morrinsville district appears to be worse off in many respects this season than some of the neighbouring communities. The season was so unfavourable to growth that hay crops were decidedly lighter than those of last season, although they were better than it was first anticipated. At Walton, while the crops were not as good as last year, they were in many cases very fair indeed, while further up the line, in the Hinuera Valley, the crops were considered to be good. A Morrinsville farmer ,s?ho. was on a visit to the Matamata district this week states that the hay crops appeared to get better the further he went southwards on the Rotorua line. On the Waihl Plains this season some of the crops were so light that where it took two days to harvest some paddocks, last season, half a day was all that was required to do the work this year. This is perhaps quoting the worst cases, but taken as a whole this season’s hay crops were much lighter than those of recent years.
