Putaruru Town Hall, January 29, dance of season, good music, good floor.*

Referring to the recent report regarding the death of a number of pigs at Paeroa, attributed to the hot weather and absence of water supplies, a Tahuna farmer stated to a Morrinsville Star reporter last week that it was his opinion that death in most cases was due to farmers feeding their pigs too much just prior to going to the scales. The extra feed just before selling was calculated to bring the farmers in a little larger cheque but it also had the effect of causing a large percentage of deaths among the pigs while on the road, especially if they had any distance to travel.
