SUNBURN AND FRECKLES.
REMEDIES FOR TENDER SKINS. The prospect of a bright and warm holiday season is marred for some women by the dread of sunburn and freckles, to which some complexions seem especially liable. The woman whom the sun burns “red" should never venture toutside in bright sunshine without first using a liberal quantity of reliable face cream. Never use soap and water after faeing in the sun for any length of time. It is much better to cleanse the face with warm water to which a few spoonfuls of milk have been added. On retiring for the night rub a little cream.
freshly skimmed from the milk, well in- •» to the skin. This can be sponged off next morning before the fact is washed in the ordinary way. Freckles, though occasionally an addition to beauty, are apt to mar the looks if too predominant. This is a lotion which will not merely remove freckles, but will prevent them. Grind twenty bitter almonds into a paste mixed with five ounces of water, and in this dissolve two grains of bichloride of mercury. A very little of this should be smeared on the face at night and sponged off with clean, cold water next morning. This preparation is also good for preventing undue trouble from sunburn. For hands which are reddened by sunburn and made sore one of the best preparations is glycerine and rosewater, to which a little lemon juice has been added.
