HINUERA.

SOCIAL EVENINGS. On the occasion of their approaching - marriage, Miss Churchwood (Okoroire) and Mr. Chas. Brown were accorded a kitchen evening by Hinuera friends. In a few appreciative remarks Mr. Phil Cotter paid tribute to Mr. Brown’s many services to local affairs. There was always a fair* amount of community activity, and a young man who showed himself both willing and able to take a leading part was a settler to be valued. Mr. Brown suitably responded on his own and his fiancee’s behalf. The social evening on behalf of the south queen (Miss Germans) was a pleasant gathering, there being a good, variety of entertainment, including several games and competitions. The affair resulted in the votes going higher up the carnival “ poll.”
