BOWLING.

More lively interest is now being taken by members in the new green laid down by the Putaruru Bowling, Tennis and Croquet Club, and as a result of recent play, and attention by the greenkeeper, the surface is rapidly getting into good condition. Last week-end a full-rink game was played, the players being Murphy, Snell, Griffiths and Pearse (s), against Hamilton, Wilson, Martin and McMeekin (s). Though the weather was showery and the game had to he interrupted on several occasions some good play was witnessed, Murphy as lead showing particularly-good judgment for a beginner. Pearse’s team proved too solid a proposition, and McMeekin, who relied chiefly on fast work, was eventually beaten by 25 points to 3.
