SUNNY PARK DAIRY COMPANY.

In answer to Mir. Hopkins, Mr. Stopford pointed out that the general practice was to make butter up to the end of September. For one thing the skim milk was available for the calves. The chairman said that the early supply was not sufficient to make cheese. The manager (Mr. N. H. Madson) said he thought the water was the cause of the second-grade butter. However, the experts had not yet been able to find out definitely. Mr. Dempster had inspected the cream on the stage, and declared that, it- should make first-grade butter, but had graded it when made into butter, when it did not come up to his expectations. The water sometimes varied. Mr. Black : Then it is either the management or the water ?—Yes. Mr. Black : Do you think it pays the company to make butter for 21 suppliers ? Mr. Stopford : The rest of us may go over to butter at some time. . Mr. Wright said that if a temporary reservoir was made to take the rain from the roof that supply would be pure yd would settle the water jjaestion. W Mr. McNab thought the annual meeting should be put on a month earlier. The chairman pointed out that if the meeting was earlier the totals for the season would not be in the balancesheet. Also, the auditors were very busy earlier. Mr. Stopford said the present auditors, like the previous ones, had their hands full, and the work would have toi wait its turn even if the meeting was held earlier. The balance-sheet was adopted. DIVIDEND. Mr. Stopford moved and Mr. J. M. Abbott seconded a motion that 5 per cent, dividend be paid on paid-up capital.—Carried.

ELECTION OF DIRECTORS.

1 The election of directors was nexl proceeded with. Three vacancies were epen, Messrs. G. Bellamy, J. G. Goodwin and J. M. Abbott retiring and being eligible for re-election, Messrs. James E. Davidson, Christian Henry Deaiiovo and Edward Thomas Wine being also nominated. The election resulted in the return of Messrs. J. M. Abbott, J. E. Davidson and J. G. Goodwin. Messrs. Sanson and O’M :ara were unanimously re-appointed auditors. HERD TESTING. The chairman brought up the matter of herd-testing, under the New Zealand Herd-testing- Association. The directors wished to know whether the suppliers were disposed to support the association. Mr. Wright moved that the company support the association. He thought the testing was the way to help dairying in New Zealand. The figures in Te Poi proved his contention. He thought it the duty of every co-operative company to assist the association.

Mr. Barford seconded. The motion included the payment of sixpence subsidy. Mr. Black thought the testing would be all right if done twice a week. On the present system of testing a man would give a cow away one month and get a high figure for her in another. A Voice : You cannot avoid variation.

Mr. Swap moved an amendment that the company give moral support only, but not financial responsibility.—Carried by an overwhelming vote.. The chairman said ire believed in the group system of testing, but since it had been turned down he would like to suggest that a group be formed at the factory, next season; it was too late this season. There would be no cost on those not testing. Mr. Smith considered that breeding should precede testing.
