PUTARURU BOWLING GREEN.

GOOD PROGRESS MADE. A meeting- of the executive committee of the local Tennis, Croquet and Bowling Club was held on Wednesday, the 17th inst., under the chairmanship of Mr. S. J. Parker. The business of the meeting was chiefly in connection with the work now being done on the new bowling green. Mr. Scarborough, jun., of Auckland, attended, and gave expert advice in regard to various matters connected with the work in hand, and expressed the opinion that play would be possible on the new g-reen by December 1 next. GENERAL BUSINESS. It was decided to elect a subcommittee to control and carry out the work now being done, and the following- were then elected to supervise the work : Messrs. Parker, Phillips, Gasparich, Thompson, Snell (ex-

ecutive), Loohhead, Ranger and Leggatt (guarantors). The committee was given power to add to its numbers.

It was decided to sell the present roller and request Mr-. Scarborough, sen., to endeavour to obtain a heavy, one in Auckland suitable for the needs of the club. The chairman .stated that Mr. Scarborough, sen., of Auckland, had been engaged on a wages basis to form the new green and this arrangement was confirmed by the executive. It was further decided to accept the offer submitted by Mr. Hockey for the general care and upkeep of the tennis court and bowling g-reen, and: that all employees be insured against accident.

COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the committee elected by the local Bowling, Croquet and Tennis Club to manage the affairs of the howling section, was held on Thursday last. Mr. Parker presided, and there were also present: Messrs. Leggatt, Loehhead, Ranger, Phillips, F. Snell, Gasparich and Thompson (secretary). The chairman explained the position leading- up ,to the election of the committee, and stated that much progress had been made on the new green, the timber for the straight edges and ditch having been ordered. Messrs. Leggatt, F. Snell and Thompson were appointed to arrange for the provision of top-dreessing soil for the green. The secretary was authorised to write to the guarantors stating that funds were needed immediately to carry on the work in progress, i The question of providing a rabbit proof fence was referred to Mr. F. Snell, who was asked to prepare an estimate of same.
