FAREWELL SOCIAL.
MISS H. NIXON. In the Bainbridge Hall, Rotorua, last Friday, a farewell social was tendered to Miss H. Nixon, at which she was accorded a hearty reception, and presented with a silver teaprt, as a silght token of esteem from Rotorua friends on the occasion of her early fjnari-iage.' The Rev. J. H. Allen, Methodist minister, and Mr. J. Dixon, spoke of Miss Nixon’s generous help in support of church work, and benevolent institutions. On the Monday, Mrs. W. Hill tendered a “ kitchen ” afternoon, when some 45 friends assembled as a testimony to the guest’s popularity. The presents were both numerous and handsome. Yet a further felicitation was tendered by members of the Rotorua Choral Society in the Lyric Theatre,. when a pair of brass candlesticks were presented to Miss Nixon by Mr. •W. T. Fakes, chairman of the society, on behalf of members. .Miss Nixon, who is a sister of Mrs. C. Alcorn, of Putaruru, and'is -wellknown throughout this district, left Rotorua for Hamilton this week, _ where she will be married next month tp Mr. Shine, of Puketurua.
