THE RECREATION HALL.
A COMMODIOUS BUILDING
Completion In Few Days. The Arapuni recreation hall should be ready for use in a very few days’ time now. An inspection on Tuesday morning showed it to be practically finished except for some minor details, on which two men were engaged. In size it would rival the Putaruru Town Hall, which it also resembles in being a fairly lofty building and having a good dancing floor, while the same kind of forms as seating* also constitute another point of resemblance. However, instead of a supperroom there is a long buffet forming a walled-off compartment along the whole length of one side of the hall and after the style of the railway refreshment rooms at Putaruru. The stage stands fairly high, with a fair frontage to the hall and a good depth, while on either side of it is a dressingroom, one for ladies and one for men. The outside of the building* is of iron, but inside it is effectively lined in wood and should prove very comfortable. Two sets of big sliding doors on one side give immediate exit if required in case of fire or otherwise and similar doors on the other side give free access to the supperroom. In addition, there w a front entrance to the hall with ticket box in true picture theatre style, and above, with entrance from the outside only, a proper projection box for the biograph.
Altogether, Hie hall is finished in a style that should well warrant it being a permanent feature of Arapuni and its opening* is a matter for pleasant a.: dcipation.
