According* to reports received from the country the fruit crop, apples excluded, will not be as large this year as had been anticipated (states the Hawke’s Bay Herald). Pears, plums, peaches and nectarines will all be in short supply, as the fruit has not set. This is attributed to the rains at the time of blossoming* washing* the pollen out of the flowers. Apple trees, which were late in flowering, promise a good harvest.
