HINUERA.
JUMBLE SALE COMPETITIONS. The jumble sale in aid of the Hinuera Tennis Club’s funds was continued on Saturday evening last. Several concerted items were sung by the school children under the direction of Mrs. F. Wade. Competitions were held during the evening, and these resulted as follows Cake, Mrs. D. Ryan, 01b (correct weight 51b 15oz); doll, Mrs. F. Wade; cushion, Mrs. F. Germann; silk shirt, Mrs. J. Trough ton; hangingferns, Messrs. J. Marsclen and C. J. Murray and Mrs. D. Ryan; pig, Mr. A. E. Brown. A shooting gallery, under the supervision of Mr. L. Murray, was in operation during the eveniingand many minor competitions were held here. Great credit for the function is due to the executive (Mr. D. Mclsaacs, chairman and Mr. W. Oates, junr., secretary) and also to the ladies’ committee, of which the secretary was Mrs. F. Germann. PROMISING YOUTH. A nice yearling Ayrshire bull may be seen at the farm of Mr. W. Oates, Hinuera. This is Meteor, by Comet ex Starlight, and as a fine specimen of a young- Ayrshire bull should turn out a good prize winner. PERSONAL. Miss E. Coombe, of Waihi, is staying- with Mrs. R. Hawke.
