INSTALLING PLANT.
THE EXCAVATION WORK. At Arapuni the excavation for the gigantic river diversion tunnel has reached solid rock, and three aircompressor drilling machines are now being installed to operate on this. Two electric motors of SO horse power each and one of 30 h.p. areft-o be installed on the cliff-top above the tunnel, the concrete foundations for them having been laid. These motors will receive their power from the power line from Horahora and are for the purpose of compressing the air, which will then be transmitted to the drilling machines below through pipes. In the tunnel, an endless ropeway with trucks attached will be used for running- out the spoil. Another drilling machine is also being installed at the power-house excavation, while others also will probably be found necessary to pierce the hard rock in the excavations for the Arapuni dam.
