“PAPER ROADS.” Cr. E. J. Darby (Putaruru) struck a timely warning note at Friday's meeting of the Matamata County Council in regard to the roading provision made on plans for subdivision submitted, to the coucil. The plan "Then on the table, he said, delineated ••• road line on so sharp an angle that there would be no possibility of making a road there, for all metal or filling would be washed off. He considered that the engineer .-mould inspect all the road Reserves before plans were approved by the c •uncil, and this would save much 1 rouble in the future should the roads even eventuate. Of one subdivision recently made, 4t is "Stated that some sections have an impassable grade for a road frontage, and no other access; to other sections the frontage is a steep cliff face which really means no access at all —but the man who buys sections from a plan does not know these things. It is certainly the duty of local bodies to scrutinise all subdivision plans, and to have a report upon the actual ground and topographical features.
