STOCK SALES.
MATAMATA. The I,oan and Mercantile Agency Company conducted its usual sale at Matamata on Wednesday last. There was a fair yarding and a good attendance of buyers. The bidding was spirited, especially in the pig classes. Most of the stock was cleared. Prices were:—Beef cattle: Fat cows, £4 5s to £5 2s; stores, £2 16s to £3 9s; others, £1 8s to £1 15s; bulls, £4 to £B. A line of nice empty Shorthorn heifers went from £1 15s to £3. Dairy cattle: Heifers, £4 5s to £6. Pigs: Slips, 355; weaners, 18s to £1 ss; others, 7s to 14s. MORRINSVILLE.
At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s stock sale at Morrinsville on Friday there was a large yarding of beef and pigs, for- which there was also a good demand. Fat bullocks were penned in large numbers, but were easily eclipsed in this respect by one of the largest yardings of fat cows seen at Morrinsville for some time, and despite this fact prices were kept up very well indeed, one cow realising £lO. Fat bullocks went up to £l2 6s, not as good value as that which ruled at the previous sale held at Morrinsville by the company. The top price for pigs, was £3 10s, which was obtained for heavy baconers. The number of dairy cattle offered was small, and the market was dull, the top price for cows being £9 and for heifers £lO. There was a very small yarding of sheep. The prices are:—Beef: Heavy fat bullocks, £ll 19s to £l2 6s; others, £9 10s to £ll 8s; prime heavy cow, £10; fat cows, £5 15s to £8; good fat heifers, £5 14s to £6 11s; light fat cows, £5 5s to £5 10s; good conditioned store cows, £4 to £4 14s; fresh conditioned cows, £3 5s to £4; store cows, £1 10s to £2 15s; heifers, empty and r.w.b., good Jerseys £3 10s to £3 18s, others £1 10s to £2 15s; yearling steers, AL 2s. Dairy cattle: Heifers, £lO 10s; poorer, £3 10s to £5 10s; cows, £5 to £9; bulls, potters, £1 to £6 15s. Sheep: Fat shorn wethers, 32s 6d; good fat shorn ewes, ’ 325, smaller 24s to 265. Pigs: Heavy baconers, £3 3s to £3 10s; medium baconers, £2 15s to £3 Is; porkers, £2 9s to £2 15s; good slips,. 35s to 39s 6*d; good weaners, 29s to 34s 6d; smaller sorts, 20s to 27s 6d. CLAU DELANDS. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s Claudelands sale there was a full yarding of beef, store cattle and fat sheep, and only a limited number of pigs being- penned. Practically the whole yarding changed hands under good competition at late rates. Beef: Five prime show steers, on account of Mr. W. Newell, 3-years, £l6 to £l9; 2-year, £11; yearling, £7 15s. Prime heavy fat heifer, £l3. Medium fat steers, £lO to £lO 7s 6d; light, £9 to £9 15s; fat cows, £6 10s to £6 12s; medium, £5 10s to £5 15s; light, £4 30s to £5 ss; forward conditioned cows, £3 15s to £4 ss; good framed store cows, £2 15s to £3 ss; others, 30s to £2; 15-months Jersey cross heifers, £2 15s to £3; 2-year Shorthorn heifers, £2 12s 6d to £2 15s; yearlings, 30s to 31s; medium yearling steers, £2 9s; prime fat ewes, 31s lOd to 32s 4d, lighter 30s 6d; fat wethers, 34s lid. Pigs: Light to medium porkers, £2 5s to £2 11s; slips, 29s to 325; weaners, 17s to 265. FRANKTON. At the Farmers' Auctioneering Co.’s Frankton sale on Tuesday, thero was a full yarding of beef and store cattle, only a limited number of sheep being penned, while fat and store pigs, as usual, came forward in large numbers. There was no extra prime ox beef yarded. Fat steers barely reached the values of the previous week; prime heavy fat cows sold under good competition at late rates. Prices for fat pigs were well in advance of those reached at recent markets and stores sold readily. Fat steers, £ll to £ll 14s; medium, £lO to £lO 13s; light and unfinished £5 10s to £8; prime heavy fat cows, £8 10s to £9 11s; heavy, £7 6s to £8; medium £6 6s to £6 19s; light', £4 10s to £5 19s; good framed fresh-conditioned cows, £3 15s to £4 ss; stores, £2 to £2 10s; inferior, £1 to £1 10s; medium quality 18-months steers, £3 2s; yearling steers, £3; 15-months Jersey cross heifers, £2 9s to £2 15s; small 25s to 355. Fat and forward woolly hoggets, 38s 3d. Heavy fat pigs £3 Ss to £3 12s; medium £3 3s to £3 ss; good porkers and light baconers, £2 15s to £3 Is; medium porkers, £2 8s to £2 10s; light and unfinished, £2 to £2 ss; slips, 33s to 36s 6d; best weaners, £1 to 275; sows and young, £7.
