CRICKET.
PUTARURU BEATS SELWYN. The first round in this season’s competition for the Lcggatt Shield is drawing to a close. The Putaruru Club completed its matches in the round during the week-end, when in excellent weather it defeated Selwyn at Putaruru by a margin of 20 runs. The teams enjoyed afternoon tea, provided by the ladies of Te Whetu, who were duly thanked for their hospitality. FURTHER MATCHES. To complete the first round the replay of the Arapuni-Selwyn match at Mangatapu has to take place and is to be followed by the Waotu-Arapuni match at Waotu. These matches are due to be completed before the Christmas holidays commence.
