STOCK SALES.
MORRINSVILLE. There was another large yarding of all classes of stock at the Farmers 1 Auctioneering Co.’s stock sale at Morrinsville on Friday. There did not appear, however, to be quite as large a number of buyers present as at recent sales but nevertheless those who were there operated freely, with the result that good prices were maintained, an advance on recent rates being- noticed in several instances. The prices of fat bullocks showed an improvement, the top price being £l3 7s 6d, which was obtained by Mr. C. Stewart, of Tahuna. Fat cows also sold well, making- up to £9 10s. The market for dairy cows was slack. The number of these animals offered showed a decline on the past sales, and the best price was for a Jersey cross heifer, which realised £8 10s, cows going to only £5 15s. Some good grade bulls changed hands at figures ranging* up to 13 guineas. Sheep prices were again fair, fat ewes realising 38s 3d, obtained by Mr. E. Speedy, of Tahuna. Pigs were again in good demand, there also being a good yarding-. A considerable improvement was seen in the values, baconers realising up to £3 7s. The prices are: Prime fat bullocks, £lO 2s 6d to # £l3 7s 6d; prime fat cows, £7 5s to £9 10s; lighter, £5 to £7; store cows, £1 10s to £2 ss; store bullocks, £4 18s to £5 0s; empty 2-year Shorthorn heifers, £2 12s 6d to £3 2s 6d; yearling Jersey heifers, £2 8s to £3 3s; young steers, £1 2s 6d to £2 Is. Dairy cattle: Jersey cross heifers, £7 5s to £8 10s; others, £5 to £6 10s; cows, up to £5 15s; culls, £2; grade Shorthorn bulls 13gns; Jersey bulls, £7 15s; potters, £1 to £4. Sheep: Wethers, 34s Od to 35s Gd; ewes, 29s 6cl to 38 3d. Pigs: Heavy baconers, £3 Is to £3 7s; medium baconers, £2 15s to £3; porkers, £2 9s to £2 14s; good slips, £1 15s to £2 4s; weaners, 25s to 355; smaller, 11s to 21s. HAMILTON. At the Farmers Co-op. Auctioneering- Co.’s weekly stock sale in the Frankton yards on Tuesday, there was a full yarding of fat and store cattle and a small entry of sheep. Beef again sold well under good competition at late rates, store cattle sold readily, with the exception of yearling to 15-months. Beef: Fat steers, £l2 to £l2 ss, medium £ll to £ll 14s, light and well done £9 6s to £lO 13s; fat cows and heifers £7 to £7 12s 6d, medium £5 15s to £0 15s, light and unfinished £4 to £4 15s, fresh-conditioned cows £3 to £3 10s, good framed steers £2 5s to £2 16s, ordinary 30s to £2, good vealers £3 to £4; extra good quality 15-months Shorthorn heifers £2 15s; others 35s to £2; yearling Jersey cross heifers, I£2 ss; yearling- Shorthorn bulls, to 7i guineas. As usual there was a
good demand for sheep of all classes and sold readily at the following prices: Fat woolly wethers £2 6s, forward 4 and 6-tooth wethers in wool 88s 9d, fresh 2 and 4-tooth shorn wethers, small, 28s Gd; best fat ewes 28s, fat lambs 32s to 345, pigs again came forward in the usual large numbers and sold well up to late rates. Heavy baconers £3 5s to £3 10s, medium £3 to £3 3s, light baconers and good porkers £2 15s to £3, light to medium porkers £2 5s to £2 10s, unfinished 35s to £2, slips 26s to 335, best weaners 23s to 255, small and young 15s to £l. WAIKATO MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co report under date November 17:— Beef: The market continues firm for prime steer and cow beef, with good yardings and prices, if anything, ■ a little firmer. Sheep: Fat shorn sheep arc now coming forward in good numbers and meeting with ready sale at firm prices, with a tendency to still improve. Store cattle: The yardings have been big of mostly dairy heifers, the supply being more than the demand, with prices for this class somewhat easier. Store cows have been in demand, also all classes of steers are r finding ready sale at good money. Lambs: Exporters are offering up to 103 d for November delivery. Store sheep: There is still a good enquiry for all classes of stores, ewes with lambs, and 2 and 4-tooth wethers changing hands at high prices with not a great number offering. Dairy cattle: We have about come to the tail end of the dairys, with little enquiry for this class. Pigs: Fat pigs and baceners are in demand, at about sid to 6d, with good yardings, also a very keen demand exists for all classes of stores. Horses: Good heavy draughts and useful farm horses are finding read;sale, with little demand for light
